Bredon is a co-educational independent boarding and day school for 300 pupils. The main site, Pull Court, stands in 85 acres of attractive rural surroundings on the Worcestershire and Gloucestershire borders. The second site, accommodating the Junior School and Girls' Boarding House, is at Sarn Hill Grange, approximately one mile from Pull Court. Some pupils are able to benefit from the expertise of the Learning Support Centre staff, and the School is CReSTeD registered.
Bredon School follows the National Curriculum, thus providing a clear structure and sound progression through each of the four Key Stages for pupils from five to sixteen years of age, with the further advantage of Post-16 studies and all within one School. Pupils who join the School in Key Stage 1 and 2 can benefit from the continuity offered and thus the anguish and worry often faced by parents in moving schools can be overcome. The School is obviously prepared to accept pupils at any age throughout their school lives provided that Bredon can offer them an appropriate education.
Our educational philosophy is based upon the principle that each pupil should receive an education according to his or her particular needs. Individual attention, personal recognition and high standards of supervision are essential aspects of the School's provision. As a result the School is able to accept a wider ability range than that preferred by the more academically selective schools. Specialist help is available for those pupils who may be experiencing learning difficulties and emphasis throughout the School is given to potential rather than present attainment.
There are few independent schools able to offer the range of courses available at Bredon, which enables all pupils to attempt nationally certified examinations/programmes at sixteen and later. Such examinations include the traditional GCSE's and GCE 'A' level, and the new vocational initiatives that have been introduced in the last few years with full Government support. The BTEC/GNVQ programmes are at Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels and these cover such areas as Business, Leisure, Design, Health & Social, Land and Environment Care and Manufacturing (Engineering). The Advanced GNVQ (the vocational 'A' levels) offers an alternative route into higher education for those students for whom the traditional 'A' levels are inappropriate. This broad range ensures that pupils and older students pursue courses appropriate to their ability, aptitude and interests. In addition to the academic programmes, emphasis is also given to Personal and Social Education in order to develop those qualities we all admire, and which today's employers regard highly.
